Match #3 Recap: Oxford Spring PATTA 2014
It was another beautiful day! I was enjoying some kayaking on the Chesapeake, and Coach Greg was able lead this session with the assistance of Josh, Erik and Jared.
Matchups: In all matches, Blue faced Red and Lime faced Yellow
8 and Under
To get things started, Cara and Nikhil had a nice 7-4, 7-4 win over Abby and Cailin of Blue. In the second matchup, blue won by default. The singles matches had some close two-setters. In the first match, Nikhil of Red defeated Dylan of Blue 7-5, 7-4. In the second match, Gianna of Blue defeated Cara of Blue 7-4, 7-3. Coach Greg said there was some good action in this match!
The final score in sets came down to a 4-4 tie, so we went to the game count, when this was counted, the final score was:
Blue – 45
Red – 35
Similar to my other site in West Chester, the second 8U matchup of Yellow vs. Lime featured a lot of close, fun three set matches. The doubles started off with a very intense, close 3 set win for Yellow. The sibling duo of Alice and Joseph defeated the sibling duo of Charlotte and Emily 5-7, 7-6, 7-2. What a great battle of the siblings! In the second doubles match, Avani and Alice of Yellow had a nice 5-7, 7-3, 7-5 win over Lily and Neil of Lime.
In a very close singles match, Neil of Lime won over Avani of Yellow 3-7, 7-2, 7-5. In the second singles match, Meghan of Lime won 7-4, 7-6 over Mason of Yellow. Great matches!

10 and under
In the first matchup of Blue vs. Red, the doubles started off close once again. In the first matchup, Lloyd and Maya of Red defeated Erik and Morgan of Blue 4-2. In a second matchup, Madeline and Maya of Red defeated Jennifer and Morgan of Blue by a very close 4-3 score.
In singles, Madeline played strong in her 4-0 win against Jennifer of Blue. Lloyd also represented Red strongly here, winning 4-0 against Erik of Blue.
Final Score:
Red – 16
Blue – 5
The second 10u matchup was much more lightly attended. Noah was the lone representative from Yellow, so he got to play 2 singles matches, winning them both convincingly. In his first singles match, he defeated Ian of Lime 4-1, and in his second match, he defeated Alyssa of Lime 4-0, earning 8 solid points for yellow. In first doubles, Ian and Alyssa of Lime won by default.
Final Score:
Yellow (or in this particular match, just Noah): 8
Lime: 5
11 to 14
And now on to our biggest division: the 11 to 14 division. We started things off with Blue vs. Red. Abby and Nicole of Blue got started with a solid 4-0 win over Rachel and Connor of Red 4-0. In the second doubles matchup, Charlotte and Nicole won 4-1 over the sibling duo of of Madison and Maria of Red, earning a 4-1 win for Blue.
We played 3 singles matches this time. To start, Charlotte defeated Reed 4-1 for Blue, and Abby of Lime had a good 4-0 win over Connor of Red 4-0. The third singles match, which was played as an exhibition, saw Abby winning 4-2 against Reed. Great matches!

In the second matchup, Lime faced off against Yellow. In the first match, Courtney and Max of Lime defeated Rachel D. and Karina of Yellow 4-0. Lime also played strong in the second match with Zach and Leah earning a 4-2 win over Lewis and Steven (Yellow).
In the first singles matchup, Zach of Lime defeated Steven of Yellow 4-3 in a very close matchup. In the second match, it was a battle of the siblings, with Connor of Yellow earning a 4-0 win against Rachel of Lime.

Lime – 12
Yellow -9
