Match #2 Recap: West Chester Spring PATTA 2014
This weekend had some great weather for tennis, and a great turnout as well this past Saturday!
Coaching Staff: We had a full coaching staff of myself, Ruhee, Julia, Danny, Kyle and a new coach, Ben, who I’m training over the next 2 weeks.
Explanation of Defaults: If one of the teams does not have enough players, we will default a match. For example, if 2 players from a team show up, they can each play a singles match and then play doubles together, but we have to default the second doubles match. A player can only play 2 times per match. A defaulted match is scored online as 4-0, 4-0 for the opposing team (10u and 11-14) and 7-0, 7-0 for the opposing team (8u)
Matchups: Blue vs. Lime and Red vs. Yellow for all divisions
8 and Under
Andrew and Jordyn were the only players present for the Blue Whales, so they got to play a lot of matches! In the first match, the Blue Whales took on the Lime Lizards. In the first doubles match, Teilo and Sydney of Lime played well together and defeated Andrew and Jordyn of Blue by a score of 7-4, 7-2. Lime won the second doubles match by default. Singles had some good quality rallies. In the first match, Andrew of Blue defeated Aarav of Lime by a score of 7-5, 7-4. In the second, Hayley of Lime won over Jordyn of Blue 7-2, 7-2.
Final Score (in Sets)

In the first singles match, Laila of Red defeated Lily of Yellow in a very close match, earning a 5-7, 7-6, 7-4 win. In the first doubles match, Ruby and Lily of Yellow just barely defeated Paige and Finn of Red on Coach Julia’s court by a score of 7-6, 5-7, 7-6. What a close match!
In singles, Manuel of Yellow defeated Finn of Red 7-3, 7-1 and Katie of Yellow defeated Laila of Red 7-5, 7-5. Great job Yellow singles players!
Final Score (in sets):

The next match featured the Yellow Giraffes and the Red Frogs. Sarah and Nate were the only Giraffes present for this match, so they got to play a lot! In doubles, Ryan and Maddie of Red communicated well and earned the 4-2 win over Sarah and Nathan of Yellow. In the second doubles match, Shyam and Hunter won by default.
