PATTA All Star Weekend Action Heats up the Courts

PATTA was founded with one goal in mind: To create fun, affordable, team-based, recreational tennis environment for kids throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania through our “Local Leagues,” events and more.
These leagues are basically the tennis equivalent of the youth sports leagues you’re used to (you know, team based soccer, basketball, etc). We organize the players into age groups (8 and under, 10 and under and 12-14 and under) in various locations (Aston, Oxford, Lionville and West Chester) and then separate them into teams (lime, blue, red, orange, yellow, purple). Each week, the teams face off against each other in a fast paced, fun, and friendly “World Team Tennis” style, supervised by our well qualified Site Managers and staff.
After weeks of teamwork, improvement, and lots of great rallies, we assembled the most consistently solid players to compete in our PATTA All Star Tournament.
It was a solid effort all around. In the 12/14 and under division, Lionville came out on top, taking the crown. In the 10 and under division, the Oxford team eked out a 12-11 win over West Chester to win the tournament. In the 8 and under division, the full roster of the Lionville team established their dominance with a win over an equally full rostered West Chester Team.
I helped out at the 8 and under tournament, and it was great to see some of the best of our local leagues coming together to battle it out and showcase their newfound tennis skills. Sure, there were a little bit of “invented” strokes, or switching effortlessly between right handed and left handedness out there, but the rallies were entertaining, and more importantly, the players had fun!
Special mention goes to the 2 Oxford representatives who made the trek out to West Chester for the 8 and under tournament (Avani and Jack). I know you had a small team, but you both played hard and represented Oxford very well!
